This morning I took the puppies out of their whelping box and put them in a basket just outside the kennel.  Watched very closely by Vesta, I was able to change the fleeces and put down clean newspaper.

Vesta counted the puppies in and out to make sure that I had not left one behind!  She is a devoted mother and has barely left the pups since they were born.  I had to encourage her out this morning to stretch her legs and do the necessary but she did not wish to be in the garden for a second longer than necessary.
